Too Funny!
DATE: 08/20/2007 12:55:35 / MOOD: just chillin'

A guy walked into the local welfare office to pick up his check.

He marched straight up to the counter and said, "Hi. You know, I just HATE

drawing welfare. I'd really rather have a job."

The social worker behind the counter said, "Your timing is

excellent. We just got a job opening from a very wealthy old man who

wants a chauffeur and bodyguard for his beautiful daughter.

You'll have to drive around in his Mercedes, and he'll supply all of

your  clothes. Because of the long hours, meals will be provided.

You'll be expected to escort the daughter on her overseas holiday trips
 and
you will have to satisfy her sexual urges. You'll be provided a

 two-bedroom
apartment  above the garage. The salary is $200,000 a year."

The guy, wide-eyed, said, "You're bullshittin' me!"

The social worker said, "Yeah, well . . . you started it.

Britney’s missile scare as she comes back for one more time
DATE: 05/03/2007 11:33:19 / MOOD: just chillin'

Britney Spears was pelted on stage at her second comeback concert.

During the final song of the 15-minute set in California someone in the audience threw a which just missed her head.

Her bodyguard immediately whisked Britney, 25, off stage.

Britney devised her own routines for the show

Before the incident, in Anaheim, the singer, who was in rehab earlier this year, made a drug gesture while singing her hit Toxic.

A source said: "There is a line 'I need a hit, baby give me it' and Britney put her finger to her nose pretending she was doing a line of coke. Then she gave a cheeky smile."

The night before, she was three hours late for her first comeback concert and performed for a mere 14 minutes and there were suspicions that she mimed to a backing track.

Her high-energy appearance alongside six backing dancers, however, delighted most of the 300 fans who crowded into a tiny California club.

It is less than three months since Spears was shaving her head, yo-yoing in and out of rehab and attacking a photographer with an umbrella.

For Spears, the performance marked an extraordinary comeback from the brink of meltdown.

The pop princess's return had been cloaked in secrecy with the concert advertised as "the M&Ms" - an apparent reference to her change from a Mrs to a Ms in the wake of her divorce from Kevin Federline.

There was mayhem on the streets near the House of Blues club in San Diego, where fans crowding the pavements were jostled by the star's six heavily-muscled minders.

A tearful Maria Edwards, 19, said: "I was shoved out of the way and fell to the ground in all the chaos. We just wanted to get pictures of Britney but her security guards were going crazy at everyone and being really heavy-handed."

The show was due to start at 7.30pm, but it was 10.40 when it eventually began.

Wearing a brunette wig, white knee boots, a pink jeweled bikini top and white mini-skirt, a newly-slim Miss Spears danced her way through a set including Baby One More Time, Toxic and Breathe On Me.

One audience member, Morgan Segall, 20, said: "It looked like she lip-synched her way through the whole thing."

But Rich Abrahams, 22, said: "This is what Britney fans have been waiting for. It is the start of something bigger and better and is an historic moment in pop history."

DATE: 04/30/2007 08:43:43 / MOOD: WTF?

Former "American Idol" finalist Jessica Sierra was arrested early Sunday on felony battery charges for allegedly hitting a man on the head with a heavy glass at a cafe, police said.

Sierra, 21, was booked in the Hillsborough County Jail on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. She was also charged with possession of cocaine and introduction of contraband into a correctional facility after officers found a small amount of the drug while searching her, police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said.

Sierra was released Sunday afternoon on $11,500 bail. There was no immediate indication if she had a lawyer.

The victim suffered a cut over his eye, but the spokeswoman gave no further information.

Sierra, of Tampa, was one of the hit show's top 10 contestants in 2005.

UK city, Kent, hit by earthquake
DATE: 04/28/2007 06:12:39 / MOOD: don't know yet

city of kent earthquake

HOMES were evacuated after parts of Kent were hit by an earthquake today.

The tremor - measuring an estimated 4.3 on the Richter scale - struck just after 8.15am today and people across the county reported that the ground and their properties shook and there was damage to some buildings.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said it had taken more than a 100 emergency calls and was dealing with incidents spokesman said: have had calls from people saying their chimneys have fallen down, large cracks in people houses."

Electricity and gas supplies to houses in some parts of Kent were cut off.

The emergency services were inundated with calls from concerned householders and fire crews attended a number of incidents.

The earthquake was concentrated around the Folkestone area, but people in parts of East Sussex, Essex and Suffolk are also reported to have felt the tremor.

There were immediate fears of an after shock, but these proved unfounded.

British Geological Survey seismologist Roger Musson said estimates had been revised and the tremor, originally thought to be 4.7, was  4.3 on the Richter scale, with an epicentre 7.5 miles off the Dover coast.

That meant it could be weakly perceptible as far as London, he said, adding that there was also a report of water sloshing out of a fish tank in a village near Canterbury.

is by no means a complete surprise, he said. have been earthquakes in this location before.

of them have been some of the biggest earthquakes ever to affect Britain. first was in 1382 and in 1580 a quake with a magnitude of about six killed two people in London.

There were also smaller tremors in 1776 and 1950 in the area, which were in the fours and on a similar scale to the one today.

was a matter of time before we had another earthquake here, Mr Musson said.

Sharon Hayles, who lives in the village of Stanford near the Eurotunnel at Folkestone, said her house slid from side to side for about 10 to 15 seconds but escaped damage.

Mrs Hayles, who was sitting in her living room with her husband Martin, said: were looking at each other in amazement - you don to feel a tremor that size here.

literally felt like the whole house was being slid across like a funfair ride.

did expect to see some kind of damage, because we have a quite a large house and it was shifting under our feet. It was horrible. van Eck, 27, who lives in Canterbury, said: was lying in bed and it felt as if someone had just got up from bed next to me.

then heard the sound of cracking, and it was getting heavier and heavier.

"It felt as if someone was at the end of my bed hopping up and down.

thought must have been earthquake It didn last very long, just a matter of seconds. Ashworth, Conservative MEP for the South East of England, who lives in Folkestone, said he went outside and saw a mass of people standing in the street wondering on earth had happened described events as and added it as quite an extraordinary experience first I thought a lorry had crashed into the back of our house, but having lived in New Zealand I soon realised what it was.

entire house shook. It was quite frightening and I am astonished here is no damage to our house.

services were extremely fast to respond, but it seemed they were rushing around not quite knowing where to go."

Another eyewitness, Scott Kanaway, said: whole ground just shook, like something you see in a film. Rev Sean Carter said: house started to shake for about 10 seconds and I had to hold on to the wall. Muir said chimneys had come down, gas and electricity supplies were off and people were being evacuated from their homes and were being looked after by the Salvation Army.

chaos up here at the moment, she said.

The mother-of-four said she was in bed when the earthquake struck.

was very, very frightened, I still shaking a bit now. Fire and Rescue Service said most emergency calls it had received involved reports of structural damage to buildings, but a fire engine had also been sent to Folkestone to investigate a of gas spokesman said: appliances and a height vehicle were sent to Pavilion Road in Folkestone after reports of structural damage to a building.

appliances and a specialist team from KFRS Urban Search and Rescue unit were called to Radnor Park Crescent after reports that a person was trapped under a collapsed building but all persons are now accounted for.

appliance has been sent to Penfold Road after reports of a smell of gas and officers are also checking two incidents of chimneys being left in a dangerous position. added that the first call was received at 8:19am and the control room had since taken more than 100 emergency calls.

A spokesman for Eurotunnel said everything was normally with the Channel Tunnel, which runs close to Folkestone.

far as we are concerned, it has had no effect on services, he said.

He added: have felt the earth tremors but the system is running as per normal. Energy, which supplies electricity to people in the Dover and Folkestone area, said several thousand customers had lost power due to the earthquake.

A spokeswoman said: thousand customers in the Folkestone and Dover areas of Kent experienced an interruption to power supply at 8.21am this morning.

Energy Networks engineers are on site and we are working to ascertain the scale of the incident and restore power supply.

would like to reassure customers that we are working as quickly as possible and apologise for any inconvenience this is causing.
