It
official. The most anticipated
movie of the summer is a sure hit. which has
already grossed a whopping 84.5 million dollars in
revenue at the box office since its release on
July 4th, is without contest THE must
see movie of the summer - quite possibly of
2007. Director Michael Bay, who
also brought blockbusters such as Island, Boys and
to the big screen, delivers an action packed movie
for the whole family that will undoubtedly hold
your interest and leave you anxiously awaiting the
sequel. With a running time of
nearly two and a half hours, the opening scene
alone will have you on the edge of your
seat.
The history
of began a long time ago, far away on the planet
of Cybertron. A war was waged
between the noble Autobots (led by the wise
Optimus Prime) and the devious Decepticons
(commanded by the dreaded Megatron) for control
over the Allspark, a mystical amulet that would
grant unlimited power to whoever possessed
it. The Autobots managed to
smuggle the Allspark off the planet to avoid its
use for evil, but the robotic devil Megatron
blasted off in search of it.
The Allspark was eventually traced to Earth
and discovered by Megatron; thus, bringing forth
yet another battle of good versus evil to present
day while placing the fate of planet Earth in the
hands of one teenage boy.
In a career
defining role, Shia LaBeouf plays the teenage Sam
Witwicky and delivers a phenomenal heartfelt
performance, maybe his best to date.
Big screen newcomer Megan Fox, who plays
LaBeouf love interest, Mikaela Banes, also brings
her A-game to the table. Not to
mention she is hot! Named #68 in FHM magazine
Sexiest Women in the World 2006, this blue eyed
brunette bombshell is definitely someone we can
all look forward to seeing much more of on
screen. You don have to take my
word for it though, check out Fox in this month
issue of Maxim magazine
Other
honorable mentions in the on the eyes department
include my personal favorite Amaury Nolasco, the
Puerto Rican bad boy from Fox breakthrough
television hit Break Josh Duhamel, the all
American looking babe from a Date with Tad
Hamilton who was once engaged to Fergie from the
Black Eyed Peas; and of course, last but certainly
not least, the sexy Tyrese Gibson.
What even hotter about these three men?
They play Aircraft Control and Warning Officers,
also known as courageous hotties in camouflage
uniforms.
Whether you are a die hard fan and have
anxiously awaited the movie release for as long as
you can remember or know very little about the
movie origin, the storyline provides a compelling
premise with big and explosive action packed
scenes at every turn. Depicting
some of the best robotic battle fights to date,
brings the battle between the Autobots and the
Decepticons to life in a big way.
So big in fact, you have to see it with
your own eyes to believe it.
Paramount audio and visual effects are
second to none, and effortlessly take the audience
out of reality and into a much more exhilarating
moment in time. Highlighted by
one of the best opening scenes, offers viewers an
exceptional combination of computer generated
imagery, three dimensional graphics and roaring
sound effects.
The movie
employs a no prisoners attitude in stunt
choreography as well. Stunt coordinator Kenny
Bates, who also coordinated stunts on other action
packed features such as Italian Job Fast and the
Furious and Day, surpassed expectations with the
superbly defined field work executed in From
futuristic looking police cars speeding down
Wilshire to car chases, crashes and explosions,
Bates and his team of drivers really nailed this
one on the head. Not only are
the driving scenes full of precise movements and
speed, but the movie features American made
cars. Chevrolet and GM play
lead roles in the film with the timeless Camaro
and new Pontiac Solstice making
appearances. How
patriotic. After all, what more
American than a teenage boy and his father going
down to a car lot and coming home in a 1974
Camaro?
Other
notable cast members include Angelina Jolie
estranged father John Voight who, upon learning of
the Decepticon invasion of the United States,
portrays the vulnerable Defense Secretary John
Keller. John Tutturro makes an
impressive appearance as Agent Simmons, an
uptight, highly classified government negotiator.
Tutturro played the role of Emilio the butler in
the Adam Sandler movie Deeds. In either case one
thing is for sure with Tutturro, you are
guaranteed a laugh. Another laugh worthy actor,
Anthony Anderson plays computer hacker Glen
Whitman who is called upon by the government to
help decode the Decepticon alien
signal. Anderson is known for
comedic performances in movies like and Kumar Go
to White Castle, and Flow, Most Wanted and Movie.
Ultimate television funny guy Bernie Mac makes a
cameo appearance as Bobby Bolivia, the car dealer
who unknowingly sells the Autobot, Bumblebee, to
LaBeouf character Sam.
My guess is
that will be your new favorite movie, well at
least until Simpson Movie hits theaters on July
27th anyway. Rated
PG-13 means fun for the whole family so take my
advice and go see the movie that has everyone
talking, and blogging about!
